We all know that our planet is suffering a lot now. Up until recently, the general public took our environment for granted and we all refused to do our part in making this place better. But thankfully there has been a shift in the public’s mindset on this matter. From small-time businesses to corporations are focusing on following rules that benefit the health of our environment and have you started doing your part? You might be doing your part, but let’s look at the small things you can do along with your current contributions that will make a huge difference.

You can contribute to preserving and saving our environment and its resources. Nowadays, individuals spend most of their time on commuting, whether it’s to work or for weekdays or weekend trips. So, follow these easy steps when you take your car out next time.

Saving Fuel.

Fuel is one of the fast-emptying resources we have right now. As human beings, we have the responsibility of saving our resources for the coming generations. Even though EVs are getting more popular, the price of an EV might not be affordable for everyone unless they lease the vehicle. So, saving fuel will benefit us. You can save fuel by not taking separate vehicles when you are going out with friends or family and by turning off your engine at a red light. Which will also help to reduce pollution and keep our environment clean.

You can also save fuel by drying smooth and steady because while accelerating and braking unnecessarily the fuel consumption of the car increases. It also increases if you have unnecessary weight in your car, so try to travel light and make your car more aerodynamic.

Saving water.

An average person washes their car at least once or twice a week. Most of them just take a hose and blast water onto the car to clean it. What people often forget is how much water they can save while washing their cars. Water is one of the most used and valuable resources we have, and we often forget to save it thinking we have it in abundance. It is not the case, many places in our country struggle to get pure drinking water and water for irrigation. So next time you clean your car make sure you use a bucket and that way you can make your car sparkling clean with just one-tenth of the water you use now.

Another thing washing your car might harm is the marine life. When you wash your car with soap and similar products at home the water often flows to a drain or a stream. There will be marine life in them which is easily affected by the chemicals in the soap. So, make sure you have a proper drainage system where you wash your car, whether it’s your house or the street. Ensure the water doesn’t reach the marine life nearby or use environmentally friendly products.

Get your Pollution Under Control!

EVs have helped a great deal to reduce pollutants emitted from vehicles. But as mentioned earlier it is not affordable for everyone. So, what you can do to reduce pollution and contribute to making our environment better is to ensure your car’s PUC (Pollution Under Control) is done before its due date. It is officially required by the Motor Laws to have your valid PUC Certificate. Also, it is one of the easiest ways to keep your car and environment from trouble. It is also a simple process to get it done, but in turn, it is a huge benefit for our planet.

Plan ahead.

The lockdown has lifted and most of us are trying to get away for a while. If you are planning a trip, make sure you plan and only take things you need to avoid luggage. Look for the easiest routes so the energy consumption of your vehicle is reduced. Make sure you or your friends don’t litter on the way. It is easy to throw out your bottle of snack packets once they are finished. Make sure you get a small garbage bag or basket for your car and it will also help to keep your car clean.

Use AC wisely.

We have the habit of turning the air conditioner on the moment we step into the car. We like to roll up our windows and turn them on for the entire ride no matter how long the trip is going to be. Why not just roll the windows down if the weather is good? Especially if you are going for a weekend getaway to the outskirts you will be able to enjoy a breath of fresh air.

Also parking in a place with shade helps your car not heat up and keep it cool. So, you don’t have to put the air conditioner on when you enter to cool it down.

Think about this when switching cars.

Are you planning to switch or upgrade your car? The best option for you and the environment will be an electric car or CNG-powered car. This will be a major shift for you but the changes in driving are minor. The major changes this can bring to the health of our planet will be worthy of this shift.

Also, technology is advancing rapidly, and we should move along adapting to this change. There are also government subsidies for EVs and there is the option to lease your dream EV. Trusted companies like ALD Automotive provide EVs on lease. So, make the world a better place cost-effectively.

There are various initiatives conducted around the world by governments to save our planet and environment. It is time for us to contribute to that. Use the above-mentioned tips to drive safely and environmentally friendly. Let us drive smart and safe while helping our planet heal.
